GREAT
"I had a salt cellar bought somewhere else and it broke everytime I opened it. I decided right away I wanted something else. I love this one. It sets on the back of the stove and is right there when I need it. I just love it!!!"

SALT lettering is barely visible
"I have been using a ramekin to store my salt- so I was more than excited to find something with a lid! Nice and large, but if you are buying for the SALT lettering, you might be disappointed- it's barely visible. Other than that LOVE it."

A Favorite Thing
"This truly is one of my favorite things. Several years ago I saw one in a pricey kitchen shop and knew that it was exactly what I wanted and needed in my busy kitchen. As others have warned, the lid, though heavy, must be handled with care. Mine survived several drops to the wooden kitchen floor before breaking. I was thrilled to find a replacement cellar at Crate & Barrel and for less than the cost of the original purchase. The cellar, a pepper mill and bottle of olive oil live on a counter adjacent to my stove, in a shallow tray that I hope will help keep that pesky lid from hitting the deck."

Shifty lid
"I love the vintage look of this salt cellar but had reservations that it would actually keep the salt moisture-free. I've been pleasantly surprised and so far my salt hasn't been sticky at all. My one complaint though, which is the reason for giving it 4 stars, is the lid. It doesn't fit tightly and slides around easily. I find myself knocking it off by accident when moving it around the counter which is super frustrating. The glass is solid and, so far, has stayed in one piece. It would be 5 stars and my favorite cellar yet if it had a more secure lid!"

Just what I needed in my kitchen
"I was looking for salt & pepper crocks. I found this salt crock and decided to buy 2,one for salt & one for pepper. They have worked out just fine for my needs.
The glass lets me see which is which,I love that. The imbossed salt name is barely visible, so poses no problem to pepper filling one crock.
The only slight problem is that the glass lids slip off easly when moved,so one must be very careful in that regard.
I would recommend this product."

Think again
"If you're buying this sweet little salt cellar because you not only like its vintage appeal, but really have your heart set on the "salt" part, don't. I like the jar and the way it looks in my kitchen. The lid, for me, is no problem to lift and replace as some reviews stated. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the "salt" part is virtually invisible -- really -- don't count on it at all."

"I needed a salt keeper for my kosher salt (instead of pouring from that big box every time) and this fit the bill wonderfully! The glass itself has little "characteristics" that add some personality (such as air bubbles trapped inside the glass) and the base is a solid weight. The glass lid just kinda rests on top so I have to be careful when my fingers are not completely dry lest it ends up sliding across the floor. Overall, I'm quite happy with this purchase!"

Handy, Sturdy, Looks Nice

Practical and Adorable
"I registered for this salt cellar and am so glad i did! I'm a professional chef, so when i'm at home cooking I like to have everything close at hand and easy to grab (no tight fitting lids or gizmos that take two hands) just like on the job. To feel like I'm not still on the job, I like to keep my kitchen at home looking cute--this is the perfect form + function piece!"

Great Salt Cellar
"I received this as a wedding gift and it's a great cellar!
I personally love that the lid is not sealed, it makes for easy access when cooking.
As other reviewers mentioned, the "SALT" that is on the side of the dish is not as noticeable when filled, but I still love it.
I also wish it came in white, but the glass is great and fits in with my decor perfectly. Has a nice vintage feel."

Very Attractive
"The salt cellar is perfect; just what I was looking for. I had originally been using a ramekin as a salt cellar, but I really wanted a lid for it. The cut facets make the glass shine extra bright. The lid just sits on top with a slight rim. It doesn't fit into the bottom jar. I'd also like to see it offered in white."

Just like the antique...
"and that's what makes it so perfect. This little cellar is fabulous. The lid doesn't have a knob, the antique one didn't. I have it right by my stove to add sea salt whenever needed. I loved this so much, I bought one for my best friend who doesn't have access to a Crate and Barrel. She loves hers too!"

Just can't keep the lid in my hands!
"Looks great on my counter, works well, nice & heavy. My only issue is with the lid... It's heavy & simply sits on top of the cellar. The instant I opened the package to unwrap the cellar, the lid flew out & hit the floor. Fortunately, it's thick, durable glass, so it didn't break or chip. This is good news, as it has slid out of my hands numerous times since & still hasn't broken! I had been looking for a good salt cellar for a while & for the price, this is a great deal."

Cute and practical
