Gorgeous, but very large
"First of all, this is gorgeous & a great value for the money! However, it's much larger than I expected it to be (we got it as a wedding gift & I'd only seen it online before we received it) and very heavy (which I guess shouldn't be a surprise since it's a big slab of marble). It takes up most of the counter space on one side of my kitchen & is too heavy to take out & put away every time I use it. However, it looks beautiful in my kitchen & I think it will make working with pastry dough so much easier. I see many pies in my future!"

LOVE IT !
"I just love this product. It has made rolling out cookie dough and pie crust so easy~ much better than the plastic " matt" I was using before. If you love to bake this is a must! Also, I love how it looks on my counter in the kitchen."

Not Bad
"Bought this for my wife. Nice size for the money. Beautiful veining but mine had a small surface defect that wasn't worth doing a return. A little disappointing that it got through but won't matter if she uses it to make more pies."

"So happy I purchased this. It makes baking with pastry so much easier and is the perfect size. It's quite heavy so I have to store it low down and it's hard to carry over to the table, but well worth it."

"The French Kitchen Pastry Slab was a good quality. I received the shipment in less days than indicated when I placed the order. I ordered the FKPS to use as a table top on an antique table. It fits perfect and looks like it could be the original top.

"After reading reviews for a similar item on another popular site I was directed to this one. I am so glad I went to crate and barrel for this. The quality is excellant, care was taken in shipping the slab, the price was right, and shipping and handlling cost was very reasonable. My husband and I have no regrets about purchasing this and would recoment this to others. It is beautiful. Complimentry items would be good too! Spoon rests, utinsil holder, napkin holder, you know . . . . ?"

"I love marble - but did not count on the two slabs of marble I ordered to be so completely different - one has virtually no veins and the other has many - many veins - I would have loved if the ordering dept. had tried to match up the two (somewhat)!! I know there are more pressing problems in the world - but they are on either side of my stove and the contrast is rather startling!!!! I'm not sure what I am going to do next - but they really are too heavy to start shifting around - they are lovely nonetheless!!!!!! thank you ......"

Too small
"I love to bake pies and wanted to try on marble.....this is way too small to do it. You could not roll out a 9 inch crust on this. Nice quality of marble though."

"I have been looking for a marble pastry slab for about a year. Recently I found one in the Crate and Barrel catalogue. It was a good size, so I ordered it online. While it is heavy, it has small bumps underneath to protect the counter. It fits well on the counter and I don't need to put it away. Making cut out cookies was easy and cleaning it is simple. Great product."

"The French pastry slab is GORGEOUS. The veining is very attractive, and the slab works wonderfully for making your favorite pie and tart crusts. When C&B says this is "substantial" what they mean is HEAVY. It's not something you can easily pick up and move, so make sure you have a place to set it up and leave it."
