An OK griddle

"I wasn't going to complain, but the e-mail asked me to, so here are my thoughts.
It does what it's supposed to do. However, it doesn't have a grease trap on the corner like the picture suggests. Those little triangles are apparently for gripping or moving the griddle. So the drippings all go to the thin, narrow depressions along the edges. Not a deal breaker, but it could have been better designed."

Sticky situation

"This "nonstck" surface is anything but nonstick. As others have stated it is very difficult to clean. I have been very disappointed. It also doesn't fit well over square gas burner grates because of the angled corners and moves way too much. You would be better off with two seperate items than this reversible."

"My husband and I enjoy using this skillet...especially for breakfast, and it's big enough that we can both work on cooking something at the same time. Wish they could design the sides a little higher, though. Also, we LOVE the grilling aspect of it! Our food cooked evenly, too, even though it fits over two burners. This griddle is also very easy to clean, as long as you follow the instructions!"

"Temperature limitations aside, most food i grill on it stick. except bread and pancakes. Unfortunately, what gets stuck is very difficult to remove without scraping off the non-stick surface.
Do yourself a favor, and get a cast iron griddle. a well seasoned cast iron griddle is much more non-stick than this "non stick" griddle."

Tough to clean

"like many of the other poor reviews we had the same experience.... we loved using the grill and griddle as they made great grilled fruit, burgers pancakes etc. However, when it came time to clean up, it was very difficult. We used a plastic "no scratch" sponge and the coating came off. Crate and Barrel was great and let us return the product. We switched to a cast iron griddle/grill because we loved the cooking experience."

Too slippery on the stove

"My mom purchased this item for me
as we have seen many cooking shows
where the chefs use grill pans.
I used it twice to grill meats but you are
not able to hold the griddle steady when
turning or moving the meat to achieve grill
marks. I love the idea of this pan but
it does need a handle. Have not tried it on pancakes but that would probably be a bit safer."

Beware of Size

"I went ahead and took the plunge despite the mixed reviews on whether the griddle cleans up easily or not. Problem for me was that it was too long for our stove top. If you have anything but the standard size stove top, you may want to double check your dimensions. All you shoppers with large appliances, beware. We have a new whirlpool slide in, which is large, but apparently it's not deep enough to handle this griddle. Check dimensions if you don't have a "standard size" stove top."

Rather disappointed...

"My partner and I were so excited to purchase this griddle. We had done our research and have been impressed with other products we have purchased from Crate & Barrel previously.
Unfortunately, this one ended up being a total let down. The griddle does a great job cooking food, from pancakes and eggs to steaks and burgers. The problem comes when it's time to clean up. From the first use, it has been impossible to get the griddle completely clean. We followed the instructions, using a non-stick spray and making sure not to over-heat. Now, after about 6 uses, it is impossible to clean the residue that is building after each use. And after the last use, grilling a marinated steak, the burnt on marinade residue just will not come off. I'm afraid it is ruined."

Wonderful indoor grill

"Love this product! Have cooked chicken, fish, steaks, and marinaded meats on the grill surface without any sticking issues (lightly coat grill with vegetable oil). Very easy to clean. Evenly heats for even cooking. The griddle side is wonderful as well! We use this product 4-5 times a week!"

Great for indoor grilling

"I use this for everything from burgers to pancakes. I use the grill side to cook burgers, pork chops, chicken, and steaks. I use the griddle side to grill onions & peppers and to make pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches. The only problem I've ever had with it is when my meat has a sweet marinade on it. Then it is a little hard to clean because the sugary sauce burns on to it. Also, I find I have to use it on medium-high at the hottest. It has been very useful and once I learned not to cook on it too hot it's been perfect."

"I use this griddle most often for grilling smaller items (or items that stick), like marinated shrimp or fish. It does not quite fit my gas cooktop burners, so check your measurements, but it does work. If you need something to support healthy quick eating, this griddle will really help."

Disappointing Griddle

"I was very excited to get this griddle as I was mainly going to use the grill side. I was very disappointed after using the grill side once to grill chicken. The chicken continuously kept sticking (even though I sprayed the grill with a non-stick spray) and the teflon did not hold up well at all. I only used the grill side once as it really did not look like it would survive another grilling. The griddle side faired better, but not by much. It's too bad, it's a great design but does not stack up with the quality."

"We were really excited for this griddle, and it has been pretty good with some minor problems. Lately, the food has been sticking to the griddle. We will probably start using cooking spray, even though it is supposed to have a nonstick finish. Also, the temperature doesn't always seem to be even; maybe we just need to adjust the temperature on the two burners."

"Tried to cook Korean BBQ on the griddle, the sauce (had sugar in it) stuck everywhere and crusted all over the pan. I couldn't clean off the crust anymore, I guess the non-stick coating was damaged. It just sits in our oven now as we don't really have space to store it.
Recommend for western (lower) heat cooking only -"

"We got this as a wedding present and liked it so much that we bought one for our friends who just got married. It heats up very quickly and does a really great job on steaks. It is also really easy to clean - everything just falls right off when you run a sponge across it. The only thing to be careful of: avoid using ANY metal utensil on it. My husband didn't realize this rule and used a metal spatula once. In a few places where he touched it with the metal the nonstick coating came off and food really sticks there. But it only happens if you ignore the use instructions."

"I purchased this griddle because it came so highly recommended by the Crate and Barrel staff in the store. They convinced me to buy this. They only thing we have used it for is to make pancakes. We followed the directions very closely about how to properly use this pan (i.e. correct stove top, not too high of heat, etc.). After the first use, rings from our burner were permanently imprinted on the skillet and the non stick surface did not work. Additionally the griddle is hard to clean because the food gets so stuck to it...I have to use a lot of elbow grease. I am surprised at the poor performance of my griddle because it came so highly recommended. Hopefully it works out better for others."
