Designed in 1964 by Maija Isola, the Unikko (poppy) design has been the most popular Marimekko print since its introduction. Challenging the common notion of decorative florals, Unikko broke from tradition with its creative pop art interpretation in bold, simplified pattern and bright color. Reproduced in infinite color combinations over its 47-year history, the pattern remains current while symbolizing the free spirit of its designer and those who admire it. Pieni Unikko is scaled between the original Unikko and the Mini-Unikko patterns. Generous fitted sheet pockets accommodate thicker mattresses. Extra-long twin sheets fit standard or oversized dorm mattresses. Maybe it's percale, but it is not smooth
"I love, love, love the Unikko design but the sheets do not feel smooth at all. They have begun to pill after a few months. It is my first experience with pilling percale! When I make the bed and try to slide the top sheet over the bottom sheet, it doesn't slide at all. I thought that percale would be smooth. Is it really 300 count, I wonder? Also, the full size fitted sheet seems enormous for a full size mattress, so it is a pain to make the bed. I had Marimekko sheets years ago, and they were not like this."

Poor Quality
"We received these sheets as part of our registry, although in a different color set and a little over a year ago. The quality was substandard. The sheets have worn through and never looked crisp. We have both the comforter (duvet) cover and the sheets. Highly dissapointed by this line."

I've always wanted these sheets
"I've loved Marimekko designs ever since I first saw them as a kid in the 60s, and in particular I've always wanted sheets with this pattern. So obviously I love the design. The bottom sheet is very deep. It fits our mattress and memory foam topper with room to spare. The fabric has a nice feel to it...not super soft, but not rough at all. Thanks C&B for carrying these!"
