Designed in 1964 by Maija Isola, the Unikko (poppy) design has been the most popular Marimekko print since its introduction. Challenging the common notion of decorative florals, Unikko broke from tradition with its creative pop art interpretation in bold, simplified pattern and bright color. Color splash in any soggy day
"Automatic open and close at a push of the button. I haven't tested in strong wind gusty condition yet. However, the vibrant color lightens up the dark cloud instantaneously. I received a lot of compliments.
I'd like to add something about Merimekko/Crate&Barrel in general. Last summer I went on a vacation in Finland and spent quite a lot of $ in the Merimekko store there without knowing we could get the same products stateside. Definitely better value/price at C&B. This partnership is a fabulous news for US contemporary-style lovers :-)"
