Designed in 1964 by Maija Isola, the Unikko (poppy) design has been the most popular Marimekko print since its introduction. Challenging the common notion of decorative florals, Unikko broke from tradition with its creative pop art interpretation in bold, simplified pattern and bright color. Reproduced in infinite color combinations over its 47-year history, the pattern remains current while symbolizing the free spirit of its designer and those who admire it. Cute and functional design
"I got a pair of these mitts for my sister's wedding. First I wasn't too sure if the big flower pattern works well with the relatively small surface area of the mitt, but they turned out to be so cute and looks really functional. The traditional design with the thumb on the side always makes me feel clumsy. My sister is very happy them, too!"

pretty but doesn't wear well
"I received two of these as a gift and I adore the print. They're bold and definitely accent my kitchen style. BUT, i accidentally got a bit of mac n cheese on one, and after rinsing it in the sink the red color ran and spread across the fabric. So sad. So obviously these things probably cant be washed and retain their awesome appearance. I'll be taking them back!"

Work Great
"I have handled several extremely hot objects that came out of the oven and I haven't felt anything with these mitts. They did a great job on combining comfort, protection, and style. I love using them."
