"I bought this trash can, and loved the look. After a couple of weeks the plastic that holds the lid on, broke. So I sent it back to get replaced. When I got the replacement can, the plastic that holds the lid broke again. I'm sad because I loved the look, and size of this trash can."

Construction Flaw

"Definitely do not buy this trash can. The first one I received had a crack in the plastic surrounding the stainless steel in the cover right out of the box. I returned it and exchanged it and the new one seemed fine but the first time I changed the bag, the plastic cracked again and then the top did not sit flush to the bottom. Buy the Simplehuman can instead."

Design Flaw

"We love the look and it appears well made with the stainless steel but unfortunately there is a flaw in the plastic top. Just like in the other review it broke within weeks, too much stress on the plastic framing. I have not contacted OXO yet but I am sure it is a common flaw. Hopefully they have fixed it. Do not buy unless you know they have!"

"I was so excited when it came int he mail. It looks great, easy to clean and easy to empty. I love that is hase a plastic liner on the inside and clips in the lid to hold the plastic bags in place-even when something heavy is thrown in. We had loads of guest and tons of trash the weekend after we bought it and it survived! The only thing I would change is adding a foot lever as an opener."

"This can is great. In the way of trash cans, it does it all. I've always loved the shiny trash cans but they always show smudges and smears horribly. Not this can. It wipes down easily, it cleans up nicely. A real plus to this can is how it holds the bags in place, there are no clips, bands or gimmicks. Simply place the bag in the can, replace the lid and voila! The push to open lid is excellent as well. It beats stepping on a pedal or picking up a lid. Just push the top and the spring loaded mechanism pops the top right open. However, it's not so abrupt that it scares the geepers out of you, it just gingerly opens up. I've been through a lot of trash cans in my quest to find the perfect one. If I ever lost this can in a tragic accident, I'd be heart broken. Seriously! I have many OXO products in my home and look forward to having this one around for a long time."

"Love this trash can, it's quiet, the bag is easily changed, and it's a great wide shape for odd shaped items. My only issue was that the description makes it sound like the entire can is fingerprint proof, when it's actually only the lid that is."
