Porto Daybed

The look is clean and simple. But the skill and artistry that go into our classic spindle daybed are anything but simple. Contemporary open-rail design is hand-wrought steel, hand-forged into a gentle curve and detailed at the posts with hammered oval finials. Arms taper into a graceful swirl. The warm brown color is a custom-blend of three pigments, handpainted and rubbed to a subtle finish. Daybed accommodates a twin or bunk mattress, sold separately. Porto Bed and Porto Headboard also available. -Solid and tubular steel -Powdercoat and painted finish -Hand-distressed -Accommodates a twin or bunk mattress -See dimensions below

Note trundle details carefully
Date: November 19, 2009
"We bought this for the style and really like how it looks in our guest room.
But if you're interested in the trundle, you should realize that the trundle (which is not a pop-up trundle) accomodates a custom-sized mattress (70.5" long), which is shorter than a standard twin mattress. And because this daybed sits lower than many others I've seen, the below-bed clearance is only about 10.5" (for both the trundle and mattress). That means that even if you consider using the bed with another manufacturer's trundle, you won't be able to use a standard thickness mattress either."

Just Right!

"I bought two Porto day beds for the sleep-over room. The dark metal has both a vintage and updated look. Easy to assemble, yet very sturdy, they don't have either the too heavy or too frilly look of most day beds."

"All in all very happy. I didn't realize at first the trundle is not a pop up like most others. not a big deal. i was quite suprised though that the trundle mattress is a custom size mattress that you can only get from Crate & Barrel. This resulted in a separate order and more time i will be taking off to sit & wait for the delivery. Should've read the whole description."

"I looked for several years for the perfect daybed. This is it. It is a wonderful transitional piece to combine with other styles. The finish is beautiful and the bed is sturdy. This bed is a true value. I love it!"

sturdy and simple

"A great bed for our teenage daughter. It's sturdy and can easily fit a nice thick mattress in the trundle underneath. It has been used for a year now and is holding up perfectly with the only complaint being not quite enought room around the edges to be able to say making the bed up is a breeze. A bit tight but I guess that means nothing gets stuck either! Moved overseas with it and it was easy to put together as well."
