"We purchased this piece in black to use as a china cabinet for our smallish dining room and are very pleased with its style, size, quality, and capacity. Our white bone china looks particularly impressive against the black lacquer finish, but darker colors and crystal tend to be less noticeable. The arts and crafts details make an otherwise contemporary piece seem more transitional/traditional, and it would easily be at home in several different rooms. The storage capacity is amazing for a piece this size, and the 3/4 inch MDF shelves are quite sturdy. We have 13 five-piece place settings, numerous china and stoneware serving pieces, tons of crystal vases, candlesticks, wine carafes, and other table top odds and ends, plus a full flatware chest, all stored inside, with room to spare. Assembly was relatively easy and took roughly 2.5 hours including a quick break for lunch.
Some issues to note: First, it did take 2 people for a few of the steps, as the directions indicate, so do not attempt putting this together solo. Second, the hardware is antiqued bronze, but I would not say that a "warm" bronze tone is the predominate color. Rather, it very antiqued in a dark, cool finish. However, the hardware color works well with the brushed and antiqued nickel hardware on our other furniture, so this is not a drawback for us. Last, there is a moderate off-gassing odor that is beginning to fade away after having the cabinet for over two weeks. I have left the doors open for several hours each day to help it continue to evaporate, but we have no children or pets to worry about. Hopefully, the smell will go away completely over time.
This cabinet easily rivals much more pricey furniture, as others have noted, and is an excellent value. Besides the minor issues noted above, I highly recommend it."
